Our Wide-Ranging Interview With Kendra Wesson, Oklahoma State School Board Member

Wednesday, January 8th, Michael and I welcomed OK State Department of Education Board member, Kendra Wesson.

Our chat went all over the place – which was great! We really had the opportunity to delve into a number of issues that parents – and taxpayers alike could appreciate. Find the FULL live video on both our YouTube or our Rumble channels.

In the clip below, after talking a bit about how happy we were that the State Board was beginning to keep students safe by finally pulling the teaching licenses of Oklahoma public school teachers and staff who had been investigated for sexual misconduct, Kendra made some amazing statements about the lives young people have to live today. It’s a short clip, but it’s so important to hear her take on “blurry boundaries”.

In another hit-it-out-of-the-park moment, as we were talking about the controversy surrounding Oklahoma state grade cards and the recent change in testing cut scores, Kendra makes the point that if parents would just have their kids read to them from a book on a regular basis, cut score kerfuffles would be almost meaningless…

Kendra is so right! Parents need to step up instead of letting their schools take over parenting of their kids. A missed education will never be caught up. Our friend, public school teacher/administrator Sandy Harrell taught us that.
