ROPE REPORT - SPECIAL REPORT - Is Lead Contaminating Baseball Fields In Jones Oklahoma?
For many years, town residents have known that lead contamination was a problem on the town-owned baseball fields ...on the east end of town.
One day, while at the park with her kids, Sara saw the grandmother of another child who was picking up black objects in the gravel, slap it out of her hand and tell the mother not to allow the child to play with anything black on the ground.
Those, she said, were battery casings that had been ground up many years ago and dumped into the oxbow over where the fields were sitting.
Sara sprang into action right after that and began collecting as much information as she could about the site and how safe - or dangerous - it was to the children and families that played there.
